Larkfield, Over Norton, Oxfordshire
We visited this Certified Location in the middle of April. We booked a lengthy stay.
Upon arrival we were told which pitch to use and were pointed to where the toilet was, the water, the toilet emptying area.
The site was very quiet, with very few other guests and considering it was Easter, we definitely expected a ‘full house’. This, for whatever reason, wasn’t the case. The main road is very busy and frequent cars racing with loud exhausts were a common noise.
The site was clean, tidy and seemingly well maintained. There seemed to be some ‘traffic’ through the site, this was residents at the end of the lane and the owner who frequented the toilet block and parked his van there. It didn’t feel you could visit the toilet without having company. Despite these toilet trips, the toilet rolls were not kept stocked up. There was also no hot water in the toilet block sinks either, although soap was provided, as was a blue towel to dry your hands.
There is no shower and this greatly lets the site down.
On around Day 6 of our stay the site owner approached my husband as he was coming back from the toilet, BEFORE 8am, with all the blinds down on the caravan, toddler still asleep, she mentioned she was ‘just on her way over’ to knock on our caravan door for the site fees. To clarify: We had booked a 9 day stay on this site.
IF she had knocked on our caravan door, our dog most certainly would have barked and disturbed the toddler - it would not have been a good day. I don’t think anyone goes on holiday to be woken up prior to 8am when all the blinds are down. For this reason, we will not be returning guests. The atmosphere just seemed very off.
